Applications, Schiff Bases, Transition Metal Complexes
Abstract
Schiff base metallic complexes have received significant attention in the scientific community for their unique properties and versatile applications across various fields, including industry and biology. These complexes display various biological activities, including antiviral, cytostatic, antibacterial, anticancer, and antifungal properties. The influence of certain metals on the biological activity of these compounds and their intrinsic chemical interest as multidentate ligands has prompted a considerable increase in the study of their coordination behaviour. This review discusses the structural features of metal complexes of the first series of transition metals with Schiff bases as ligands having different type donor sites. Major developments in this field over the past few years and recent research have also been briefly discussed. Further perspectives concerning the synthesis, structural aspects, characterization, and applications are presented.
