Abstract
Waste water originating from domestic, commercial, and industrial sources are collected, treated, and discharged back into the environment. Protecting waste water collection and treatment systems with the least risk to public health and safety is the most cost effective manner. Leakage from conventional sewerage systems can cause strangnent which is important by which groundwater and soil contamination occurs especially in area with high groundwater table. This serious problem can be rectified by advance when proper mode of collection of sewer water is carried out. Vacuum sewer technology is a system that is becoming more and more popular. Introducing such a technology in the city of Coimbatore would be a very progressive initiative and will change what is perceived to be the norm.
