The use of refractory casting cement waste as a partial replacement of aggregate in concrete has been gaining attention as a sustainable solution for waste management in the refractory industry. This review paper presents a comprehensive overview of the recent state of knowledge on the utilization of refractory casting cement waste in concrete. The paper discusses the mechanical properties, durability, and environmental impact of using this waste material as a partial replacement of aggregate in concrete. The review highpoints that the use of refractory casting cement waste can improve the strength and durability of concrete while reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. However, the optimal mix design and proportion of waste material for concrete making are yet to be determined, and long-term durability and environmental impact must be assessed. Therefore, this paper highlights the essential for further research to optimize the use of refractory casting cement waste in concrete, with the purpose of providing a sustainable and effective solution for waste management and enlightening the performance of concrete structures.
