Hybanthus travancoricus (Bedd.) Melch. belonging to family Violaceae, was investigated to evaluate in vitro antibacterial activity of aqueous, petroleum ether and acetone extracts against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa by disc diffusion method.
