Fault Phase Identification Of Real Time Transmission Line

A novel algorithm for fault phase selection in a distance relay is illustrated in this paper. Phase selection plays an important and fast investigation in a distance relay and it is possible to cure the faulty phase. We are applying this phase selection algorithm for a 220 kV transmission line in two substations which were taken into consideration. The method is applied for all kinds of fault including phase to phase to earth fault in the transmission line. This algorithm has been applied on the real time system and proved its reliability. An APT-EMTP simulations were done in PSCAD interface with MATLAB. The simulation proved its excellence in determining the fault phase in real time transmission line.
