Abstract
Kuttanad is a unique agricultural land in Kerala, the soil in the area where is problematic in nature. Major portion of Kuttanad lies below mean sea level and during raining season the area is submerged under water for more than one month in every year. Due to increase in population and development of the area has need construction activities to undertaken in Kuttanad region. Most of the foundation failures have occurred in this area is due to very low undrained shear strength and consolidation settlement of the clay soil. Laboratory test for obtaining these values are expensive and time consuming process, while the soil parameter like natural moisture content, Atterberg limits and field density can be estimate faster and cheaper. Therefore the relationship of compression index from water content, Atterberg limits and field density are useful for reduce the testing number and costs. Linear regression is a statistical tool for making the relation, which is the investigation of relationship between dependent variable and independent variable.
