Abstract
The complexity in power system increases as they grow in their size and interconnections. Rising costs due to inflation and increased environmental concerns has made transmission, as well as generation systems to be operated closer to design limits. Hence Power System Voltage Stability and Voltage Control are emerging as major problems in the day-to-day operation of stressed power systems. In this paper, a Voltage Stability Index (L- Index) is used to assess the voltage stability in Power Systems. The value of L – Index ranges between 0 (no-load condition) and 1 (voltage collapse). Furthermore, Artificial Intelligence has been emerging as a tool for solving Power System problems due to its efficiency in handling nonlinear problems. This project work also applies Artificial Intelligence Techniques such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) for the estimation of L – Index in various load buses of Power Systems. Input-output relation of real/reactive power and voltage vectors for generator as well as load buses with the voltage stability Index-L is used as the training dataset for ANN and ANFIS. The proposed approach is tested in standard IEEE 30 bus test system and the results are analysed.
